Gas Works Park Shoreline Cleanup

April 28, 2018 – Gas Works Park Shoreline Cleanup

The weather started off a bit soggy, but it gradually turned into a nice day for our Buckeye Month of Service event at Gas Works Park in Seattle. We had a good turnout for this event, some even coming by ferry. This 19 acre public park is the site of the former Seattle Gas Light Company gasification plant and located on the north shore of Lake Union. The park was added to the National Register of Historic Places in January 2013.
We collected almost 100 pounds of trash in 2 hours using tools borrowed from Puget Soundkeeper Alliance who coordinated with Seattle Parks and Rec for the trash bag pickup. Afterwards, warm food, cold refreshments, and good company at a local pub completed a great day. Thanks to Buckeye Nation for giving back to our adopted city.
